How do we Treat Protein Energy Malnutrition?
Major objective of the treatment of PEM is to provide adequate energy and protein intake and control infections, if any. Mild and moderate forms of PEM can be and should be managed at home under the supervision of health professional, Severe forms of PEM should be referred to a hospital, particularly when associated with severe bronchopneumonia 'and diarrhoea.
