The 1920s and the 1950s have often been considered decades of great paradox. Specifically, some have argued that the prosperity of these decades masked deeper political, economic, and social tensions in these respective eras. What was different about these respective decades? How did they signal a significant change from the decade preceding it as well as led to intense social and political change in the decade that followed?
