Gear boxes , Mechanical Engineering

Assignment Help:

Gear Boxes : Motorcycle engines do not produce their full power at all RPM. There is very little power at idle and the power goes up as the engine RPM increases. At a certain RPM, which is different for each engine, the power goes up quickly and continues to increase until it hits the maximum RPM for that engine. This is called the "Power Band". The gear boxes are provided to use this power transition properly. A gear box consists of arrangement of gears and can be classified into three types :

(a) Constant mesh type;

(b) Synchro mesh type; and

(c) Sliding mesh type.
