Consider the lime-kiln process CaCO3 (s) → CaO (s) + CO2 (g)

Find the number of intensive variables that can be varied independently in the equilibrium system under the following conditions:

(a) The system is prepared by placing calcium carbonate, calcium oxide, and carbon dioxide in a container.

(b) The system is prepared from calcium carbonate only.

(c) The temperature is fixed at 1000K.
