Explain understanding of human behaviour.

Understanding of Human Behaviour: Understanding human behaviour is significant for any one dealing along with human resources. This has also been the subject of large number of researches.  Research in industry aims at discovering in human behaviour:-

a) Causes of behaviour

b) The factors that are correlated with behaviour even if they are not causative.

Individuals are different from one another in dozen ways. Differences are shows as regards physical appearance, capabilities, education and aptitude etc. Individuals are different and thus, in industry, they are paid at various rates. One learns with small effort and practice, while, another is not capable to pick up so quickly. The differences in individuals reflect in their performance and behaviour at work. Individual dissimilarities in behaviour, identified and measured, help much in right placement, selection and imparting appropriate training to the individuals.  Action upon a peculiar behaviour of an individual to an exact situation is seldom spontaneous; this does have a cause behind. For any specified aspect of individual behaviour, there may be several contributing factors.  The individuals are different from each other in certain aspects that are termed as individual variables. These individual variables play a main role and influence the performance (behaviour) of a worker at work.  These are the physical characteristics, intellectual factors, interest & motivation, temperament, character of a particular, aptitude, personality aspects, experience, education, sex and age. Along these individual variables there are several situational variables, as physical environment, work space or layout, condition and design of work, equipment, ways of work, character of the organisation, types of training and supervision, kinds of incentives and social environment that also influences the performance of behaviour of an employee on a specified job.
