Micafungin sodium (Mycamine - Astellas), the second echinocandin antifungal1 to become available in the US, has been approved by the FDA for intravenous treatment of esophageal candidiasis and prophylaxis of invasive Candida infections in patients undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT).
