ORGAN TRANSPLANT REJECTION -

  • Major histocompatibility complex is responsible for stimulating the rejection of tissue MHC is set of genes that code for cell surface glycoproteins.
  • These glycoproteins mark the body cells as self and are unique for each individuals.
  • The glycoprotein present on cell membrane of donated tissue are identified as Non self by T-cells.
  • The cell mediated immune reaction against the MHC antigens that is host versus graft reaction is the main mechanism of acute rejection.

Some medicines as immunosuppressants eg. cyclosporin, antilymphocyte globulin are given.
