Explain how presentation layer helps in establishing and processing data in End to End layers.

The idea of the presentation layer is to stand for information to the communicating application entities in a way that preserves the meaning whereas solving syntax differences. Syntax differences are resolved through encoding application data in a standard abstract notation that is valid during the network. Therefore, data representation differences (for example: ASCII or EBCDIC), file format differences (for example: IBM format or DEC format) or data structure differences are all solved using a standard notation. Data formatting and transformation may comprise data compression, encryption and so on. There are two aspects associated with network wide handling of a variety of data in a standard form, and second, the transmission of data like a bit stream across the network.

This layer translates among different protocols and formats resenting functions data file formatting, encryption, decryption and encoding of data messages data compression algorithms and dialogue procedures. This layer performs character and code set translation. Formatting information and finds the display mechanism for message.
