Explain cephalosporin

Third-generation cephalosporins, like cefotaxime  (Claforan), ceftriaxone  (Rocephin), cefoperazone  (Cefobid), ceftazidime (Fortaz, and others), or ceftizoxime (Cefizox), and fourth- generation cephalosporins like cefepime  (Maxipime) should not be used for routine surgical prophylaxis because they are expensive, some are less active than cefazolin against staphylococci, their spectrum of activity contains organisms rarely encountered in elective surgery, and their widespread use for prophylaxis would endorse emergence of resistance
