Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin)
Vitamin B12 refers to a group of Cobalt-containing corrinoids known as cobalamins. It is also called antipernicious- anemia factor, extrinsic factor. In human and animals, derivatives like hydroxycobalamin, adenosyl cobalamin and methyl cobalamin are the major compounds which are metabolically active. The latter two are the active co-enzymic forms. Cyanocobalamin is a synthetic form of Vitamin B12 that is widely used clinically due to its availability and stability which is transformed into active form in the body.
