Explain bevel gear generating process, Mechanical Engineering

Assignment Help:

Explain Bevel Gear Generating Process?

The fundamental of bevel gear generating process involves the rolling of a bevel gear blank on a crown wheel. The crown wheel is a bevel gear having pitch cone angle of 180.The teeth of the crown wheel are straight and are provided on the flat face of the gear. In the bevel gear generating process, the crown wheel may be considered as a rack cutter. In practice, however, only one tooth on the crown wheel acts as a cutting tool and relative movement between the tool and the work is such that it resembles the rolling action of the blank on the crown wheel.
