Menadione is a yellow, lustrous, crystalline powder. It is easily soluble in benzene, soluble in fats and fatty oils. It is sparingly soluble in ethanol and chloroform and very sparingly soluble in water. Melting point is between 105 and 108°C. Menadione is not stable in the presence of acid as well as of alkalis and substances with alkaline reaction and in the presence of reducing agents.
