Educate the Mothers Regarding Prevention of Diarrhoea 

While working  in the diarrhoea clinic, ward or community, your major responsibility as a nurse is to educate mothers regarding the prevention of diarrhoea because different communities  have different beliefs regarding diarrhoea. 

  1. Mother should be taught  and encourged for the following: 
  2. Continue breast feeding the child as long as possible. 
  3. Avoid using feeding bottles and encourage the use of katori and spoon. 
  4. Maintain  good food hygiene. 
  5. Give adequate diet to  the child to improve health status and give nutrition education to mothers. 
  6. Use clean potable water free of any dirt and dispose off the refuse and excreta properly. 
  7. Avoid food stuffs exposed to dust and files. 
  8. Store water in clean place in clean covered container and never dip hand into water pot.
  9. Wash fruits and vegetables before consuming and try to eat freshly cooked food. 
  10. Wash hands and nails  thoroughly before cooking and feeding the baby and after going  to  toilet. 
  11. Never use open space for passing stools. Pass stools in  toilet if toilet is not possible then pass in the field and cover it in the mud.
