It is the length of a post-tensioned concrete member, at the end, which is required to get a distribution of prestress over the whole of the cross- section of the concrete member. At the ends of post-tensioned concrete members, anchorages apply the prestressing force on only a part of the cross-section of concrete. As we move from an end towards the middle of the concrete member, the distribution of longitudinal prestresses occupies more and more cross-sectional area.
