Determine the total head and total pressure of water flowing at in a pipe which has the following data:

Flow= 2,500 gpm; Elevation = 30 ft; Pressure = 40 psi; Pipe Diameter = 12 inch; velocity = 7 ft/sec; ??_water = 62.4 lb/ft³.

Solutions: E_p = (40 psi)(2.31 ft/psi) = 92.4 ƒt

E_v = (V²/2g ):= (7)² / (2)(32.2) = 0.76 ƒt

E_z = 30 ƒt

H = Total Head = E_p + E_v + E_z = 92.4 ƒt + 0.76 ƒt + 30 ƒt = 123.2 ƒt

P = Total Pressure = γH = (62.4 lb / ƒt³)(123.2 ƒt) = 7,688 lb/ ƒt²= 53.3 psi
