Describe aerobic respiration to the pyruvic acid molecules, Biology

Assignment Help:

Q. What happens during aerobic respiration to the pyruvic acid molecules made by glycolysis? and What is the sequence of reactions that then follows?

The pyruvic acid molecules made in cytosol by glycolysis enter into the mitochondria.

Within the mitochondria each pyruvic acid molecule is transformed into one molecule of acetyl-CoA (acetyl coenzyme A) with liberation of one carbon dioxide. The Krebs cycle (also called citric acid cycle) the second stage of aerobic respiration then begins.
