Define the Interaction of Vitamin C with iron?

Ascorbic acid powerfully enhances absorption of non- haem iron and reverses the inhibiting effect of tea and calcium phosphate. Iron absorption is directly proportional to the quantity of ascorbic acid present. Ascorbic acid forms a chelate with ferric iron at acid pH and renders it soluble for absorption.
