Define Water of oxidation or metabolic water?
Water that arises from oxidation of foods within the body, which is referred to as water of oxidation or metabolic water. Water which comes from the oxidation of food is the last source of water. 1 g of starch yields 0.6 g of water; 1 g of protein 0.41g; and 1 g of fat gives 1.07 g of water. This source contributes only about 10% of the total water input.
