Define the types of Pump Performance Curves
Two types of pump performance curves: x-axis = flow rate; y-axis = head (TDH).
Characteristic curves:
Provided by the pump manufacturer. They are non- linear curves recognized by the plotted head values decrease as the flow rate increases. Increasing the rpm or increasing the impeller diameter shifts the curve position upward to the right while the curve maintains the same shape. The opposite occurs if these parameters are decreased - the characteristic curve shifts downward to the left while maintaining the same shape. Other information that may be provided: Efficiency (n), NPSHR and power (bhp).
