Q. Define Pattern draft or taper?

It is also termed as "draw". It is the taper placed on the pattern surface that are parallel to the direction in which the pattern is withdrawn from the mould, to allow the removal of the patter n without damaging mould cavity. The draft depends upon the method of moulding, the sand mixture used, the design and economic restrictions imposed on the casting.
