Define Investigative Techniques in Nutritional Biochemistry?
It is an important component of this manual as it focuses on providing an understanding of biochemical methods, techniques and procedures used in nutritional biochemistry. The investigative techniques covered in this section are those which we shall be commonly using during our lab work for this course namely the quantitative techniques such as titrimetry, the separation techniques, such as chromatography, the spectral technique namely colorimetry etc. In fact these techniques are commonly used for experiments and research work in the area of human nutrition, food science etc. What are these techniques? What is the principle behind these techniques? How are these methods carried out in the laboratory? These are a few aspects covered in this practical. The main objective of this Practical is to integrate aspects of theory of chemistry, principles of measurements and practice of laboratory techniques.
Objectives
