Define Extra enterocyte transfer - non haem iron absorption?

Extra enterocyte transfer: Little is known about iron transport across the baso- lateral membrane. After crossing the baso-lateral membrane, it binds to plasma transport protein transferrin. Iron is oxidized before it can bind to transfemn. This is brought about by ceruloplasmin, a Cu-containing protein. The process has been depicted in Figure.
