To ascertain the extent of genetic mixing (admixture) in a wild population of wolves, Randi and Lucchini have genotyped wolves and dogs at dissimilar microsatellite DNA locations. Additionally to using standard multivariate ordination to analyze the data, they as well used Bayesian admixture analysis that was better at identifying hybrid genotypes.
