A comparison between pre-tensioned and post-tensioned concrete members can be made on the basis of the following considerations.

(a) Type of construction. 

(b) Mechanism of transfer of prestresses from tendons to concrete.

(c) Behaviour of these members under loads and their cracking patterns.

(d) Types of loss of prestress.

(e) Use and applicability in different types of members.
