How are instructions sent between memory and the processor?

Both the instruction pointer (IP) and program counter (PC) utilized to holds the memory address of the next instruction to be fetched and executed.
To be accessed to the memory unit sends the address of the memory location and issue the applicable control signals (memory read).
In the instruction register (IR) ,the instruction that is presently being executed is stored.
Timing is critical and is handled by the control unit within the processor.
