Classification of proteins - Fibrous proteins

These are composed of polypeptide chains which run parallel to the axis and are held together by a strong hydrogen and disulphide bonds. They are able to be stretched and contracted like a thread. These are commonly insoluble in water. Instances are: α-keratin (hair, wool, silk and nails); myosin (muscles); collagen that is tendons, bones and so on.
