Using the information given in Figure, the volume of excavation in yd3 is most nearly:

Solution: Use the average end area method:

Volume (yd3) = [(A1 + A2) ÷ (2)] x [(L ÷ 27)]

Volume (yd3) = [725 + 544) ÷ (2)] x [(100 ÷ 27)]

Volume (yd3) = 2,350-yd3
