Q. Average data transfer rate in floppy?

A floppy is about 0.64 mm thick and is available in diameters 5.25 inch and 3.5 inch. Data are arranged in form of tracks and sectors. Tracks are numbered sequentially inwards with outermost being 0. Utility of index hole is that when it comes under a photo senser, the system comes to know that read/write head is now positioned on first sector of current track. Write-protect notch protects floppy against deletion of recorded data by mistake.  

Data in a sector are stored as a series of bits. Once required sector is found, average data transfer rate in bytes per second can be calculated by following formula:
