Analysis
The factory has the process for the following: QC of sampling, receiving orders, receiving fabrics and accessories, checking of fabrics, drawing, cutting, sorting, sewing, pressing, quality Control, packing and delivery.
As the factory was originally designed for in-house production, it has some problems in adjusting the processes according to the new and demanding requirements. Further it was also noted that the factory is completely lacking proper planning and scheduling of all the activities. There are bottlenecks in resource allocation for various process units. For example, the unit need to go to the regular production unit for fixing accessories and for pressing for sampling processes. This, not only delays the sampling unit, but also interrupts the regular production processes. Sewing accessories has to be interrupted and machines have to be re-adjusted for sampling to meet the current regular production processes.
Comparing the problems with theory and practical processes.
Need to discuss on standard production planning and the difficulties in adopting the standard practices. The factory needs to verify the standard garments production time using standard process time. It requires reviewing the resources allocated at various processes and readjusting the resource requirements. For example, it is possible to reduce the ideal time in adjusting the machines that are doing regular production by increasing one more worker and introducing one more sewing machine for the sampling unit.
