1-Φ Half Bridge Inverters

1-Φ bridge  inverter may be  of two  type 1-? half  bridge  and 1-? full  bridge  inverter. 1-? half bridge  inverter with resistive load to explain  the principle  of inverter.

The thyrisotrs T1 T2 will conduct for the duration till its gate pulse i g1 and ig2  are present respectively and as  the pulses  are removed thyristor will get  turned off. When the  applied to T1 current  if  flows  through  peer supply T1 and Ri. The  output voltage V0 = Ddc/ 2  is obtained. As the igl is removed and ig2 is  applied to T2 thyristor T1 gets timed off and load current  i0 flows  through  lower battery or lower supply, RL and T2  hence the output voltage is reversed so V0 = Vdc/2  is obtain das shown .

Here the voltage  and current  wave forms  will remain  in same  phase due to  resistive  load. In case when  other  than resistive load is  i0 will not  be in phase  with v in this  condition diodes will allow  the current  to flow  when  main  thyristor  get turned off. Therefore  these diodes are known  as feedback diodes.
