EXERCISE: Writing an Appealing Job Advertisement for an Animal Shelter Supervisor

Using the following job analysis information, create a job advertisement that makes the position sound as attractive (yet realistic) as possible to potential recruits. The goal is not to mislead candidates but rather to make the job appealing to recruits who would be a good fit. You can use pictures and create a larger job ad, or just words and create a posting that might appear on an online job board. You can use the intemet to research the wording of other job ads if you would like.

Summary

Responsible for the operation of the City's Animal Shelter, including kennel oper¬ations, health care, support services for animal care issues, and administration. Responsibilities include supervising professional, technical, and clerical personnel and volunteers.

Duties

• Overseeing the daily operation of the city's animal care and sheltering, includ¬ing animal care staff and volunteers.

• Assuring proper and humane handling of all animals with attention to their comfort, stress, and special needs.

• Assisting with front counter operations, including adoptions and customer service. Providing adoption counseling. a team approach with staff and direct weekly staff

• Establishing and promoting meeting.

• Overseeing the administration of vaccines and drug

• Networking with other shelters and rescue organization ensure the placement of all adoptable animals.

• Performing canine temperament evaluations and training other staff to perform them.

• Performing related duties as assigned.
