Today you are meeting with a new client named Z. Z is 19 years old. Last year, she transitioned from the foster care system after spending 10 years in the system and living in 8 different placements including families and group homes. Z has been diagnosed with asthma and depression and met with the physician today. The physician referred Z to speak with you about strategies for managing her chronic health conditions and promoting better health outcomes. Z is living with a friend she met through foster care, sleeping on a mattress in the back hallway, and is working two retail jobs. She wants to go to college and earn a degree "So that I can get a real job, something that can allow me to have my own bedroom or apartment someday."
