Provide a 100 word response to the below discussion question answer in apa format with in-text citations and references
Answer:
According to Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt (2014) evidence-based practice is a systemic search and review of relevant research to answer a clinical question including the clinical expertise and evidence that is determined through management and quality improvement projects and other avenues but also include patient preferences and values. An example of an evidence based practice project would be the implementation of early mobility in an ICU setting including the adaptation of the ABCDEF bundle. The Awakening and Breathing Coordination, Delirium Monitoring and Management, and Early Mobility incorporates the best available evidence related to patient related issues encountered in the ICU and provides a guidelines for management in the ICU and adoption into the daily clinical practice of nurses (Balas, Vasilevskis, Burke, Boehm, Pun, Olsen, Peitz, & Ely, 2012).

A research study is a systematic inquiry that is designed to develop evidence which is trustworthy about an issue that is important to the nursing profession (Polit & Beck, 2012). A nursing research could be a question is asked and attempted to be answered. A research project is one that includes research like the Nurse-Driven Titration of Insulin Infusion in Post-Cardiac Surgery Patients which was a research study that described the support of an innovative practice of nursing titration of insulin with patients on an insulin drip through a review of outcomes (Nyquist, Anderson, Donahue, Caruso, Alore & Larson, 2012).

Evidence-based projects are important to nursing because of the impact it has on the patient. The evidence that is synthesized helps nurses make informed and safe decisions that have a positive impact on the patient outcomes and these decisions are clinically excellent and cost effective. (Polit & Beck, 2012). EBP helps shape nursing practice and helps create positive impact and change on the patients. Nurses should become more interested in the learning about EBP because of the impact on the patients and the implications it has to nursing practice including a safer more efficient environment for the patients.

Original Question:
