Assignment:

Find one research experiment that has been debunked (or failed to be consistently replicated by other laboratories) and one experiment that has been replicated many times by other laboratories. These two experiments do not have to have anything to do with each other but both have to be in the field of psychology.

Assignment should have two parts: the unsupported experiment and the supported experiment. In both parts you should briefly describe the original experiment. For the unsupported experiment, then go on to describe the experiments that didn't replicate it and give any thoughts you have as to why it wasn't replicated. Were the set ups different? Were the participants different? Was the original experiment poorly controlled?

For the supported experiment, describe the experiments that replicated it and explain how they were similar or different and the importance of the theory these experiments supported. It will be optimal is you can suggest a future experiment that tests the hypothesis in a different way than these experiments.

The introduction will summarize the two papers you will be discussing in the assignment and the conclusion will summarize what you talked about and discuss why replication is such an important step in the scientific method.
