Assignment:

How do children interact with each other in peer led environments? Is it more beneficial for children to interact this way? This would be observational research and I would conduct it by observing children interacting on the playground. The specific population that I would study is elementary school aged students on a playground or at an after school program.

The methods I would use to gather data is by note taking/documenting what I am witnessing. By doing this research I hope to learn and understand how and why children behave differently in peer led environments. Why do some children gravitate to one specific child? Why does one child tend to be the one who takes the lead and becomes "in charge." Does playing in peer led environments do a better job at helping develop social skills? Are they able to resolve conflict without an adult taking the lead?
