Single-case experimental designs (SCED) and group research designs are two prominent methodologies used in research to measure the impact of ABA interventions. SCED focuses on the client, and involves repeating measurements frequently, allowing the BCBA to monitor changes over time which helps us learn what interventions will work for each client individually. They made designs like the ABAB we talked about or multiple baseline to show strong internal validity through clear functional relationships. External validity though, that is done through replications but across different subjects and different settings.

Group Research Designs compare groups of individuals which tends to generalize findings across large populations vs. telling us what works for a person specifically, so our use can be limited. Randomization and control groups are typically used which strengthens external validity but it would give us answers about the general efficacy of interventions.
