Problem
Reflections and Conclusions: Throughout the semester, beginning with your Ch 1 Assessment, you will be asked to write reflections and conclusions. Below are two conclusions to the bank teller example problem. Based on the calculations derived from hypothetical values (which should be replaced with actual values you possess), you would decide whether to ask for a higher salary. In a real scenario, if the future discretionary income is less than or only slightly above your current income, it would be wise to negotiate for a better salary. Get the instant assignment help. Read both conclusions below. Discuss the positives and negatives of each conclusion. Which conclusion is more effective and why?
Conclusion I: I conclude that I need to ask for money to make the assistant manager position worth it. If I can't get more money, I am better off sticking with my bank-teller job. I'd be happy with the new job, but I am also happy with my current job. The thought of moving doesn't sound that good to me and so unless they increase the salary, I'm just going to stay put.
Conclusion II: From a purely financial perspective, I need to ask for more money to make the assistant manager position worth the move. Though my salary for the assistant manager position is higher, $49,000 per year compared to the $40,000 I make as a bank-teller, I would have less discretionary income after factoring in taxes and living expenses. My calculations above show that after paying taxes and bills, I have $6,400 per year left.
