Consider that you plan to launch an international online non-profit organization called Financial Literate Youth (FLY) in South America (Brazil, Venezuela, Colombia, and Peru). This club will target high school students, providing a safe and fun environment where they can learn about finances, such as budgeting, taxes, financial planning, and investing. Be detailed. Answer the following:
a) Employing Nationals. Describe the types of nationals that would be employed by your business. Refer to the text and note likely situations when each type would be used.
b) Components of HRM. What type of firm is your venture (e.g. transnational firm, multidomestic)? Why? Using the basic components of HRM as a guide, describe the likely practices used by your firm type.
c) Compensation. Discuss the options available for expatriate compensation of your firm. Expatriates are employees from the home country (e.g. USA) working in the host country (e.g. Nigeria). Consider how these options might be used depending on the company type (i.e., a transnational, multidomestic company, etc.)
d) National Context. Describe and discuss the major factors in the national context of your country that affect your nation's HRM practices. Be specific to the country you are entering.
e) Culture. Compare and contrast the appraisal and compensation systems in the United States with that of the country you are entering. Discuss legal and cultural problems that you or your company managers might face using their approach to these systems in the United States and using a U.S. approach in the host country.
f) Unions. What types of unions are prevalent in your host country? Discuss the challenges each type might pose to you or your company manager.
g) Permanent Employment System. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of a permanent employment system for managers. Would you employ this in your host country? Why/Why not?
