Question
The digital revolution is changing as people buy. Studies show that even commercial customers spend more of their shopping trips researching online solutions before committing to a seller. To compete, companies like Dell are informing sales and marketing models to meet these new requirements. However, doing this effectively requires Big Data (Big Data) solutions that can analyze corporate databases in addition to unstructured information from sources such as clickstream (clickstream). When one clicks the mouse on a website, these clicks are recorded in the clicks database for further analysis or online. Dell has evolved into a technology leader using efficient data-driven processes. By decades employees could have measurable results using enterprise applications to help and facilitate processes such as customer relationship management (CRM), sales, and accounting. When Dell recognized that customers were spending dramatically more time researching products online before contacting a sales rep, Dell wanted to update marketing models accordingly, so they could send out new types of personalized services and help with what customers expected.
To make such changes, however, marketing employees needed more information about online customer behavior (including click analysis, for example). Employees also need an easier way to condense knowledge from the use of numerous Business Intelligence tools and data sources. Mr Drew Miller, Executive Director of Marketing and Knowledge at Dell, says: "There are petabytes of information available about customers online and there is information from customers not online" We just need to give marketing employees a user-friendly solution that could assimilate all that information, find patterns, make recommendations about marketing spending, and marketing activities.
Configuring an agil team to accelerate the return on investment (ROI) with Business Intelligence and Data Analytics. To improve its global Business Intelligence and Data Analytics and Communications strategy, Dell established an Information Technology task force. The executives created a flexible governance model for that team so that they could quickly respond to employees evolving Business Intelligence and Data Analysis requirements and send a rapid ROI (return on investment). For example, in addition to having freedom to interact with internal business groups, the task force team had the power to modify business processes or information technology using agile and innovative statistics. The team should dedicate more than 50% of its efforts in identifying and implementing Business Intelligence and Rapid Win Data Analysis (rapid-win) projects that are typically too small to be "A" priority for the IT department company Dell. The team should also spend 30% of the time evangelizing with its internal business groups to raise awareness (awareness) about the transformative capabilities of Business Intelligence as well as the opportunities for collaboration. One of the first task force projects was a new Business Intelligence and Data Analytics solution called the Marketing Analytics Workbench (Marketing Analytics Workbench). Its initial application was focused on a selected set of commercially compromised user cases online or offline. This effort was co-founded with Dell's IT department, and marketing organizations. There was a desire to expand the use of this solution to help many more sales and marketing activities as soon as possible. However, we knew we could build a more effective solution if we changed our efforts quickly and iteratively on a larger scale, says Fadi Taftal, Dell IT Company Director.
1. What were the challenges that Dell was having that led to the use of these analytical tools?
2. What solutions did Dell develop and implement? What were the results?
3. Dell is a company that also provides analytical services for others. However, she used her own offers and analytical services as a company for herself. Do you think it should be easy or difficult for a company to self-apply its own service as a supplier and as a customer at the same time?
