Effective communication helps to ensures that everyone is working together and engaged with the company's performance goals. Personally, I perform better when I understand the purpose behind a task that I am assigned. I think that open communication about how daily tasks and special projects effects on the company's performance is a great way to keep employees engaged. I have noticed that people perform better when they feel that their tasks are contributing to a greater purpose verse doing what they consider tedious busy work. I work at a national call center and like many places change is inevitable. When these changes affect my department's processes, I make it a priority to have a one-on-one conversations with my team members about the changes and why the changes were necessary. I find people buy into change when it is explained instead of being dictated to them.
