We're talking about intimate partner violence. Intimate partner violence is defined as physical violence, sexual violence, threats of physical or sexual violence and psychological or emotional abuse. Intimate partners can include current or former spouses, dating partners of same sex or opposite sex and significant others of same sex or opposite sex. Victims of IPV can be women, men or transgender, but in this case we are focusing more on pregnant women. For example, the case of Laci and Conner Peterson or Tara Grant 2007.
