Question
1. How has your perspective on what nursing leadership is/looks like evolved since you first began this course? (Refer back to your initial reflection in your intro post!)(forum 1 post: A) When you think about nursing leadership, what does it mean or 'look like' to you?
Nursing leadership is an individual that you are able to take your concerns to and they guide you in the right direction. Nurse leadership is someone you can count on for support and as the patients and staffs best interest at heart.
2. What qualities do you value in a leader within the health care setting? What is it about those qualities that is important to you (and your colleagues)?
Honesty, compassion, flexible, collaborative, respectful, knowledgeable. All these qualities make a leader reliable and approachable but also guide you in practice and also supervising. These qualities set an example of what leaders look like.
3. What leadership skills/capacities/qualities would you like to develop or improve upon?
I would like to improve conflict resolution and delegating. Conflict resolution is an essential skill, although conflict does not occur regularly, when it does it's good to have the skills to resolve the issue before it escalates. Delegating has always been an issue as I do not want to burden others with more work but know that it would benefit the patients.)
4. What are the key 'take-away lessons' from this course that you will apply (or already have!) to your nursing practice and future role as a Registered Nurse? (Discuss at least 2 key lessons.)
