Assignment:

Over the course of this class, I've noticed real growth in my evidence-based practice (EBP) skills-especially when it comes to searching the literature to answer clinical questions. What once felt impossible now feels doable. I've also become more confident in creating focused PICOT questions and navigating online databases.

Critically appraising the literature is another area where I've built competency. I can now assess a study's level of evidence, its validity, and whether it's actually applicable to real-world practice. Tools like appraisal checklists have helped me identify potential bias and better understand the statistical significance of findings. As Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt (2023) point out, "the ability to systematically appraise and integrate evidence is essential to delivering safe, effective care" (p. 308), and I can now truly see how that plays out in clinical settings.

What I'm most proud of, though, is learning how to incorporate all of that information into practical solutions. I can now pull together evidence from multiple studies and apply it in a way that fits both the clinical context and the patient's needs. "EBP is a lifelong problem-solving approach to clinical practice" (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2023, p. 308), and I feel like I've taken a big step toward that mindset.
