After reviewing ethical principles (general) and the Code of Ethics for Nurses (ANA) or the ICN Code of Ethics for Nurses (International Council of Nurses), consider what position you would take as a citizen and highly educated nurse on some issue being debated at the local, state, national, or world level. This is not a formal paper and requires only that you identify the topic in brief detail, describe how you view it through a professional ethics perspective (eg, general ethical perspective applied to the ANA or the ICN Code of Ethics), and make a statement about what action nurses might take to support your interpretation of the ethical perspectives of the issue. You may choose a broad perspective such as citizens of the US, or you may choose a targeted perspective such as care for the homeless or new approaches to opioid complications. This is a pass/fail discussion board submission. Failure of this submission may result in one additional submission with an automatic deduction of 10 points from the course participation grade.
