Chihiro is 21 years old and presents to your office for the first time with a chief complaint of a severe headache. They report having "about a half dozen" headaches per week. Chihiro reports that the headaches are not incapacitating but bad enough for them to come and see you about them because they are now lasting all afternoon and night long with several of them lasting for 2 days. They attribute them to their new job, saying that "the ramp-up is stressful." The headches typically come on in the early afternoon - they think it is because they are hunched over a computer non-stop. Upon questioning you find that there is definately no aura, no sudden onset, and no crippling, stabbing, or blinding pain.

The pain almost always starts in their temples and either stays there or radiates to the rest of their head. They find that standing and stretching their neck and shoulders helps a little. They have been treating it with acetaminophen, ibuprofen, daytime cold medicine, and has started seeing an acupuncturist.
