2020 has seen the rise of a Global Pandemic, the developing health crisis Worldwide that is the Human Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2 ) which causes COVID-19. Federal, Provincial and Local Governments and their associated Health Ministries and Units have taken drastic steps to combat the spread of COVID-19.

The Premier of Ontario took steps under the Civil Protection Act to limit the power of Unions in Ontario. They did this by suspending the collective agreement between the Union and the Employer. This allowed employers to bring in retired nurses and unregistered staff into the workplace in effort to meet the demands of the Pandemic.
