Medicalization of Deviance is a relatively new phenomenon; especially in the criminal justice field. List ONE trait/ behavior that has become MEDICALIZED in U.S. society. Support this claim with a minimum of ONE academic research article on the topic (even if it is not directly an article about the medicalization of this trait or behavior). Discuss the trait or behavior you have chosen, and discuss your article. Also, at a minimum, answer the following questions or thoughts.

1. What is medicalization? specifically the medicalization of deviance?

2. What trait or behavior do you feel has become framed as a "medical" problem- especially if it has not been seen as a medical problem in the past? Has this changed over time? If so, how was this trait or behavior viewed previously?

3. Does anyone benefit from this trait or behavior being viewed medically (rather than as a personal choice)?
