What is Compounding of rubber?
Heating raw rubber at100-140oC with sulphur for improving strength, temp range, elasticity anti oxidation etc. is known as compounding of rubber or vulcanization. The added sulphur combines chemically at the double bonds of different rubber springs and provides cross-linking between the chains. This cross-linking brings about a stiffening of the rubber by anchoring and thereby preventing intermolecular movement of rubber springs.
The reaction between oxygen and organic material is a/an __________ reaction. 1. exothermic 2. endothermic 3. biochemical 4. photochemical
Explain what is meant by the term Threshold Limit Values (TLVs). Describe briefly the different TLVs used by Industrial Hygienists. Outline the strengths and weaknesses of these occupational exposure limits and illustrate how they may best be u..
What is the minimum refractory period? If the second pulse is applied before the minimum refractory period, how much larger is the stimulus magnitude that is needed to generate an action potential?
Describe the two resulting dimensionless groups (call the dimensionless group for apoptosis A, and the one for the cell cycle B).

Determine the efficiency when the transformer delivers a load of 2 kVA at 0.85 power factor lagging.
A balanced three-phase, wye-connected, 2400- V, 60-Hz source supplies two balanced wye connected loads in parallel. The first draws 15 kVA at 0.8 power factor lagging, and the second needs 20 kW at 0.9 power factor leading.
A distillation column separates benzene from toluene using a control scheme similar to that shown in Figure (a). Make a practice HAZOP study of the plant section and add any instrumentation that is needed to develop the full P and I diagram.
