Every woman, or at least almost every woman, in England has, at one time or another in her life, been in charge of the personal health of somebody. This is regardless of whether the person is a child or an invalid. In other words, every woman is a nurse. Then, if every woman must at some point in her life be a nurse, taking care of somebody's health, what an incredible and invaluable outcome would be if every woman thought about being a nurse.

1. Can you tell me if this perception is still present in your experience today? Why or why not?

2. In what ways might this bias affect male nurses?

3. How might nurses be affected by this perception?

4. What impact might this perception have on patients?
