Question 1..... As we think about the value of science in our lives, I want us to research the history of 'science'. How has science changed our lives? Have there been times when there was a questioning of scientific thought? For example, do some research on the debate over climate change? Who are 'climate change deniers'? How does this position approach scientific knowledge? What about the approach Texas is taking to science and education? Have we ever seen this type of challenge to scientific knowledge before? How has science changed our lives? And does everyone appreciate the change it has brought about? Question 2... Is there a debate over the reality of climate change? Or is there a political power struggle using climate change as a tool? To answer this question, begin with some research on: 1. What does the scientific community say about climate change? What are some unanswered scientific question? What does science say about the impending impact of climate change? BE SURE TO USE ACADEMIC SOURCES NOT POLITICAL SOURCES FOR THESE QUESTIONS. 2. What do political operatives and representatives of various political groups and parties say about climate change? How do they reference the science? Who donates money to their campaigns, groups or representatives? What do they want with their climate change position and why? YOU CAN USE POLITICAL SOURCES SUCH AS FOX OR DAILY KOS FOR THESE QUESTIONS. This dovetails with your other question this week. Do we value science as a measure of ground truth or are we being fed/surrounded by politics as the purveyor of truth?
